Intel Celebrates 40 years of the first microprocessor

Intel began developing its first microprocessor in 1969, commissioned by the Japanese manufacturer Busicom calculators. Initially the project was the creation of a dozen specialized chips, but Intel engineer Ted Hoff (Ted Hoff) proposed a different solution: family of four generic chips, one of which became the 4004 microprocessor.
