Alan Wake developers on the reasons for the refusal of an open world

Art Director Alan Wake Saku Lehtinen (Saku Lehtinen for this add-on) gave an interview to Edge, which explained why the developers had to abandon the concept of open world in the game. Introduced in 2005, game with elements of psychological thriller had to have s?ndboks-setting, but the final version of the game was completely linear.
